Serving as an ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ volunteer provides an opportunity to shape the future of academic veterinary medicine, advance shared priorities, and build connections with colleagues across the global veterinary education community.

All committees and council positions have three-year terms, unless otherwise noted, and require approximately 2–4 hours of service per month.

The Admissions and Recruitment Committee (ARC) is a committee of the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ Assembly. The ARC supports ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµâ€™s Strategic Plan Goal 2, to identify, inspire, and recruit qualified and diverse applicants who will serve as the future veterinary and medical workforce; and Goal 5.2, to promote careers in veterinary and biomedical research amongst students, applicants, and pre-applicants.Ìý
The ARC is composed of members who are involved in the admissions process, including admissions directors, associate or assistant deans of student affairs or academic affairs, or others who have experience and expertise in this area. Ìý

The Advocacy Committee is an advisory committee to the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ Board of Directors. The committee serves to support Strategic Goal 1.3: to influence and advocate to promote the interests of academic veterinary medicine with key decision-makers. Ìý
The committee shall be comprised of five members representing U.S. colleges/schools of veterinary medicine, one member representing either comparative medicine or veterinary science departments, one member representing Region II (Canada) colleges, and one member representing Region III (Europe) or Region IV (Australia, New Zealand, Asia) colleges. The ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ liaison to the AVMA Legislative Advisory Committee and the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ liaison to the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities also serve as members. Members shall serve two-year terms, to coincide with each session of Congress.Ìý

The ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee is an Advisory Committee to the Board of Directors. As core values of ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ, diversity, equity, and inclusion must be intertwined through all the core components of the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ Strategic Plan. Thus, the DEI Committee will ensure that its work supports and ensures integration of these values throughout all elements of the current and future strategic plans. The work of the committee uses data to advocate for change throughout the academic veterinary medical community. Ìý
The DEI Committee is comprised of members who have diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives as part of their portfolio. These individuals may include directors of diversity, associate deans, faculty, staff, or others who possess the requisite experience and expertise in this subject matter. Ìý

The Educational Research Committee provides scholarly oversight for national and international research projects targeting leaders within ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ member institutions (e.g., deans, associate deans, and senior administrators). In addition to ensuring appropriate project review beyond standard institutional processes, the committee helps ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ track research activity across the academic veterinary medicine landscape and identify opportunities for collaboration across institutions.Ìý
The Educational Research Committee reviews studies related to veterinary medical education, including multi-institutional research on curriculum trends, outcomes assessment, and campus climate—ensuring that projects contribute meaningfully to veterinary medical literature and align with ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµâ€™s mission to advance educational excellence.Ìý

The committee uses data and evidence-based approaches to foster a climate of well-being throughout the academic veterinary medical community. The committee takes a systemic approach to this work.Ìý
The Wellbeing Committee is composed of members who have wellbeing initiatives as a part of their portfolio. These individuals may be academic veterinary wellbeing professionals, CVM deans, associate deans, assistant deans, or faculty who have wellbeing as part of their institutional responsibilities and/or the requisite experience and expertise in this subject matter.Ìý

In the interest of veterinary medicine’s distinct contribution to global health and well-being, the Council on International Veterinary Medical Education will advance high-quality veterinary education internationally by enabling and empowering best practices.ÌýÌýÌý
The council provides a means for:Ìý Ìý
- Communication and collaboration that advances veterinary medical education around the worldÌýÌýÌý
- Collaboration among educational researchers through the provision of small seed grants
- Dissemination of innovations and other educational advances, to magnify the impact of projects by outreach to educators and their respective organizations.ÌýÌý
